In 2011 when Ivan Owen received support from an on line community to collaborate with people who needed prosthetics, shared his designs using open source licences, and Applied the feedback to 8nnovate and gift a better design for the need knower to test. The community suggested redesign using 3 d printing, and volunteer digital humanitarians self funded creating devices for people who needed them, gifting to people around the world as collaborative researchers.
The caring community using service Learning, Citizen Science, and mentorship galvanized around the blog of Jen Owen and her site www.enablingthefuture.org. This is the origin point of (Enable, or its stylised spellings including e-NABLE and eNABLE) as a method, movement and vibrant global community.
