Nate has been instrumental to the adoption of Open Badges and the evolution of its standard. Far from a mere cosmetic change, with the introduction of endorsement, the 2.0 specification has moved Open Badges from infancy to adolescence — yes, there is still a bit of work to become adult, but Nate knows it and is already working on it.

Nate, who is also one of the three authors of the Bologna Open Recognition Declaration, has a clear vision that Open Badges are more than mere “microcredentials” to be displayed on Facebook, LinkedIn or a résumé, but contain a wealth of information to develop innovative services that could contribute to building a more open and inclusive society.
